Homegrown Oregonian. A fourth generation Oregonian, Roger resides in Bend, Oregon, with his wife, Wendy. He grew up on a ranch in North Central Oregon and graduated from Pendleton High School.
Vietnam Veteran. In 1967, Roger called in F-100s and Skyraiders to drop bombs on his own position as his unit was being overrun by an NVA Battalion. He has received numerous military honors including the Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Air Medal, and many more.
In the Open Air. Roger can frequently be found on outdoor adventures. His favorite activities are open blue water sailing and skiing. He also enjoys spending time with his wife, two daughters, and four grandchildren.
Four Famous Figures. If Roger could share a meal with any four individuals, they would be Aristotle, Alexander the Great, Thomas Jefferson, and Mahatma Ghandi.
Roger currently serves as a member of the board at the Waverley Historic Foundation. Roger founded and served as the President of the Board of the Citizens Education Commission. He also conceived the Citizens Crime Commission and served as a member of the board. Other board memberships have included the Portland Chamber Orchestra, the YMCA of the Willamette, and the Portland Opera Association.

Roger is the Managing Partner and founder of SGA. He founded the firm in 2008 in order to provide investment management to clients seeking to intelligently allocate capital in the inflationary monetary environment which he anticipates to commence in the near future.
Roger co-founded Western Pacific Investment Advisers, Inc., in the 1990’s. Serving as President and a Principal of the firm, he was responsible for overseeing the management of client portfolios, marketing, and operations of the firm. In 2005, the firm was sold to Coldstream Capital Management, Inc. where Roger served as a Wealth Manager until his retirement in 2008.
Serving as a stock broker from 1970 to 1993, he provided research and advice to a number of individuals and leading investment managers located throughout the country, including managers of the State of Oregon PERS. He also advised several corporate retirement plans, pension funds, endowments, and foundations.
Roger is an ROTC Distinguished Military Graduate from Gonzaga University, with a B.A. in Psychology and minors in Business Administration and Philosophy. Additionally, he is a graduate of the U. S. Army Infantry Officer Course, the Army Airborne School and Jumpmaster Course, the Army Communications Course, and the U. S. Army Special Warfare School, MATA. He served as an Infantry Captain in the U.S. Army, Vietnam. Assignments included serving as a platoon leader in the 101’st Airborne Division, Battalion Advisor to the South Vietnamese Army, General’s Aide d’Camp, and as a Company Commander. He has been awarded the Superior Marksmanship Medal and Parachutist Badge as well as numerous combat decorations such as the Combat Infantry Badge, the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and the Air Medal.
