A Dream Come True. Valerie has grown up playing basketball, mostly under her father’s coaching. When she was in 11th grade, she led her team to the 1A State Championship. Basketball still consumes much of her time as she now plays at the collegiate level for Multnomah University.
Hobbies. When she has free time, Valerie enjoys reading, hiking, playing guitar, and spending time with her family and friends.
Family Traditions. One of Valerie’s favorite family traditions is playing cards with her extended family during holiday gatherings. Oftentimes, they even organize tournaments of Pinochle and Spoons – things can get quite competitive!
Valerie graduated from Damascus Christian School in 2014 as valedictorian of her class. She currently attends Multnomah University in Portland and is pursuing a double major in Bible/Theology and Business Administration.
Valerie volunteers her time each week at the Junior High youth group at her church. She also enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience of basketball by frequently running clinics for all age groups throughout the Portland area.
While she uses basketball to impact her own community, she has also traveled three times to Morelia, Mexico, to share her passion for the game. In the summer of 2014, she volunteered at NOÉ International for an entire month, teaching players and coaches more about the game she loves. In 2016, she was able to travel to Mexico, Japan, Germany, Belgium, and Northern Ireland to play and teach basketball.
